Movie capital of the world finally got its long hands on the symbol of capitalistic world – fast food chain of restaurants McDonald’s. There is a talk of movie under alleged working title “The Founder”, which will tell the story of how the empire of hamburgers was built. The script is written by Robert D. Siegel, known for his work on The Wrestler. It’s telling the story of Ray Kroc, a businessman from the state of Illinois who arrived in South California and discovered a small cafe (McDonald’s), founded by Mac and Dick McDonalds. Ray quickly realized the potential of the cafe and offered the brothers to merge and create a franchise, an offer they couldn’t refuse. The first franchise restaurant was opened in Ray’s homeland of Illinois in 1955 and soon the chain spread all over U.S.. In 1961 Kroc bought out all the rights for the franchise and built the most successful chain of fast food restaurants in the world. John Lee Hancock (Saving Mr. Banks) is appointed as the director of the film and it is promised to be a mix of There Will Be Blood and Social Network. Though it is not crystal clear who is going to play the main role and when the shooting is going to start, the whole concept sounds interesting to me, let’s see how it will work out!

Ethan and Joel Coens recently decided to return to the project they thought of not less than 10 years ago. I’m talking about a motion picture called “Hail Caesar”. In best traditions of the borthers, the film is going to be satirical and that its action will take place in the 1950’s. The broad topic of the film will be the backstage life of Hollywood, and more specifically will tell the story of Eddie Mannix, a specialist of defending the eminent actors form blackmailers and yellow press. The rumor has it that the character is based upon real person Fred Otash, who actually spied on celebrities and even tapped their phones. He was also entrusted by Peter Lawford to investigate death of infamous Marylyn Monroe in 1962. Another part of Fred’s business was to smother up celebrities scandals with love affairs, drinking and drugs, which will also be one of the film’s main character main occupations. For 10 years Coen brothers are trying to persuade George Clooney to play this role, however ineffectually till now. Let’s hope Mr. Clooney will agree eventually, as he might just be perfect for this role.

Marvel is reviving it’s old character again, this time they started talking about making a separate movie about their character Gambit, also known as Remy Etienne LeBeau, a superhero who can create and control kinetic energy of any object and is very skilled at card tricks. Last time Gambit appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and was portrayed by Taylor Kitsch, who lately became known as “blighter of blockbusters” as many actions films where Taylor has the main role became “box office bombs” (John Carter, Battleship). Now the fans of Marvel Universe were wondering if Kitsch is going to continue playing the character or somebody who is not associated with films huge money losses will be chosen instead. Channing Tatum helped the producers make a decision when he approached Lauren Shuler Donner, producer of all films from the X-Men series. Channing stated that Gambit is his favorite character from the Marvel Universe and that he feels “an inexplicable connection” with him, and that he would be flattered to have an opportunity to portray him on the screen. Recently Donner came out with a public confirmation of Tatum actually being signed up for the role, as he fits the approximate description and resembles Gambit in personality. The expected release date of the film is still not known.
